This, for the first time on DVD, is the fascinating story of an important part of maritime history - The Manxman.
She is the last of her type left in the British waters, a floating memory of a bygone era when shipbuilding drove the British economy, built in 1955 and in service with the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company until 1982.
After leaving service, the Manxman endured a tough life and is now on the verge of being scrapped for good.
She carried thousands of people during her working life, many who retain fond memories of her elegance and luxury, and there have been repeated attempts by hundreds of well-wishers to raise the huge funds necessary to save her from the scrap yard Even today, the plight of The Manxman continues to attract headlines in the Isle of Man, Liverpool and throughout the north west of England, as well as in the maritime press.
The film contains previously unseen archive footage, photographs from collectors and contemporary footage from on-board the vessel. It also features exclusive interviews with the personalities who have shaped the history of the Manxman and the Isle of Man shipping industry.
The release will be supported by a PR and marketing campaign targeting relevant local publications and specialist maritime titles, as well as proven contacts within the UK National Press.
