This DVD features two classic archive films celebrating one of Britain’s most popular cars – the Ford Cortina Mark 3.
Made by Ford in the early 1970s, the films chart the entire design, build and testing process and then examine the wife variety of models released under the Mk3 badge. The Mark 3 was designed to replace the millionselling earlier version, and soon became a firm favourite. More than 30 years on, the Mk3 Cortina continues to attract devotion from fans, including the thousands of members of enthusiasts’ clubs, like the Mark 3 Owners’ Club. The car’s popularity enjoyed a resurgence recently thanks to a starring role in the hit BBC drama Life on Mars. The films feature exclusive, behind-thescenes access to Ford’s design offices and factories, with fascinating footage of how the car was put together, refined and tested to destruction. BAFTA-nominated actor Joss Ackland provides the commentary on the first film, Protoype, while the second, Peak Performer, includes contributions from saloon car racing champion Frank Gardner.
