From the mid 80's through the mid 90's, Amphetamine Reptile Records defined the term "Underground" (Coming of age before the terms "Indie" or "Alternative" were bandied about, those involved preferred the term "pigfuck"). For blistering genre-creating sound, graphics and attitude, AmRep had no equal.
Being far too raw and fucked up for MTV, the label began what was then a first - the cheap self-published Video Compilation. Amphetamine Reptile's successful "Dope, Guns & Fucking In The Streets" 7-inch single series helped shape the label as well as put it on the map with critics and tastemakers.To transfer this idea to the VHS format, AmRep grabbed cameras, art school directors, and its stable of unstable musicians, and let 'er rip! Enlisting the insane "Dr. Sphincter" (Minneapolis local access weirdo and "Let's Bowl" creator Rick Kronfeld), the only comedian capable of matching AmRep's blistering barrage, the "Dope, Guns..." video series documents a seminal movement in music history.
