"La finta semplice" is a comedy of love overcoming obstacles through deceit, with roots in commedia dell'arte. Mozart was 12 when he composed this "odyssey" (Irrfahrt) about people all yearning for martial bliss - except the eccentric Cassandro. But heroine Rosina wins his heart with feigned simplicity (hence the opera's title). "Marlin Hartelius is outstanding as enchanting Rosina... as is Matthias Klink as bungling Polidoro... The Salzburg Camerata under Michael Hofstetter make a fresh Mozart sound" (Kronen Zeitung).
