Few performers attain a popularity that endures throughout their lifetime. Fewer artists achieve a renown that grows exponentially after death. Such is the realm of legend.... James Dean, Marilyn Monore, Elvis and a small number of others. In the last 40 years, the name of Ritchie Valens has been added to that pantheon.
In what must surely be the shortest musical career in history, Ritchie Valens achieved in 8 months what most musicians dream of accomplishing in a lifetime. Born into poverty, he was discovered by producer Bob Keane in May 1958. Within a month his first single, "Come On, Let's Go" had established him a singer, songwriter and guitarist of considerable talent. five months later, his second effort, "Donna"/"La Bamba" was a double-sided hit (a remarkable feat even by today's standards), a million selling record in its day, and went on to become one of the most popular recordings of the 20th century. Catapulted into stardom as a rock and roll idol of his generation, his career abruptly ended when he was killed, along with Buddy Holly and The Big Bopper, in a mysterious plane crash February 3, 1959. Curiously, despite an enduring popularity and many posthumous accolades (even a US postage stamp!), there has never been a documentary on the life of this remarkable man. Until now.

The audio Chapter includes every studio master take performed by Ritchie, digitally remastered from the original master tapes. An interactive chapter allows the viewer to browse through dozens of photos, letters, and mementos from Ritchie's short life.
