In 2007, at the Centenary of the Isle of Man TT, racing ace John McGuinness became the first person ever to lap the legendary 37.73-mile Mountain circuit at an average speed of more than 130mph.
The achievement made headlines around the world, and in February 2010 the lap was named ‘Landmark of the Decade’ by the popular Fast Bikes magazine, which also placed McGuinness third in the list of top motorcyclists of the decade. In this programme, McGuinness reflects on an amazing TT career and reveals the secrets behind the famous 130.354mph lap. His newly-filmed contributions are combined with action footage from throughout his TT career, including the barrierbreaking record lap.
McGuinness, from Morecambe, is one of the most instantly recognisable and best-known road racers of the modern era. He has won 15 TT races, second only to the late, great Joey Dunlop, and dominated the event for much of the past 10 years. He will race at the TT again in 2010, just weeks after the release of this DVD, ensuring maximum exposure for the McGuinness name.
The TT attracts thousands of fans to the Isle of Man every year – an estimated 60,000 made the trip in 2007 – and receives global media coverage, including extensive TV coverage through ITV in the UK, and national newspaper reports.
