Handlung und Filmbeschreibung:
Huge grids of world-class riders and major manufacturers, 26 races in 11 countries and a title battle which would go right down to the last day of the season – the 1992 Superbike World Championship was a real thriller.
Now you can experience this classic year of racing on DVD, with complete coverage of the entire chase for the Superbike crown. Scintillating action from all 13 rounds of the championship delivers the full story of the knife-edge title fight, as well as all the vital passes, clashes and crashes from the always entertaining Superbike World Championship.
Reigning champion Doug Polen was back to renew his fierce rivalry with fellow Ducati rider Raymond Roche, but the pair would be pushed all the way by other Superbike stars - Aaron Slight, Giancarlo Falappa, Rob Phillis and Britain’s own Carl Fogarty were among eight riders to take wins in the 1992 season.
The chase for the championship will have you glued to your screen race after race, right down to the title-deciding final round in New Zealand. The battle between Polen, Roche and Phillis – split by just 14 points after seven rounds – became a four-way dice as Falappa found form, but it would all come down to the old foes Polen and Roche at the end of the season.
As the story unfolds, there’s plenty of drama to enjoy, like Foggy on privateer machinery mixing it with the factory riders, Fabrizio Pirovano’s stunning home wins in the wet, the amazing guest appearances of Kevin Magee and some spectacular performances from Stephane Mertens – including one which leaves his Ducati more than a little fire damaged.
This is the full story of a vintage year for the Superbike World Championship.
